Association Notre-Dame: refurbishment of laundry integrating RFID for RABC compliance
Since its creation in 1853, the mission of the Association Notre Dame has been to welcome and support the most vulnerable. Today, it serves 289 people with cerebral palsy, multiple disabilities and autism spectrum disorders, who are cared for and supported in its four establishments: an Institut d'Éducation Motrice (IEM), a Service d'Éducation Spécialisée et de Soins à Domicile (SESSAD) and two Maisons d'Accueil Spécialisé (MAS).
The Neuilly-sur-Seine site has its own laundry, which handles flat linen and trousseaux for the 70 adult and child residents.
Issues
With the aim of achieving compliance with the RABC (Risk Analysis Biocontamination Control) method, the Association Notre Dame initiated a project to rehabilitate its laundry. Incorporated into the EN NF 14065 standard, the RABC method sets out guidelines for effective linen management to prevent microbiological contamination of clean linen by dirty linen in all establishments welcoming or housing people with immunodeficiencies in particular.
Implementing the RABC method requires in particular :
- Physical separation of dirty and clean areas
- Layout of premises to avoid air exchanges between dirty and clean linen areas.
- Disinfection of rolling stock
- Compulsory dress appropriate to the work area (indoor or outdoor)
In addition, with the aim of controlling hygiene and eliminating microbiological hazards, it is necessary to ensure good linen management: limit soiled linen storage times and control linen treatment (detergent quantities, time and temperature of washing and drying cycles).
Solution
In parallel with the refurbishment of the Association Notre Dame's laundry, theAXEM Technology and Storkcom teams set up a total traceability system for residents' flat and personal linen to guarantee efficient management of linen processing using RFID.
